General Medicine Typhoid Infectious Disease Fever

Chief Complaint / Presenting Problem

High-grade fever, headache, abdominal pain, and loose stools for 10 days. Not responding to paracetamol from local pharmacy.

Diagnosis

Enteric Fever (Typhoid), Widal 1:320, Blood Culture positive for Salmonella Typhi

Treatment & Procedure

IV Ceftriaxone for 10 days, fever surveillance, strict fluid and dietary management. Stool and blood culture repeated to confirm clearance.

Outcome & Result

Fever resolved at day 5 of antibiotics. Full recovery by day 12. Follow-up cultures negative. No complications. Health education on food hygiene given.
