Rapidly progressive difficulty breathing and stridor over 48 hours due to a large neck abscess causing airway compression.
Deep Neck Space Abscess with Impending Airway Compromise
Emergency tracheostomy performed to secure the airway, followed by incision and drainage of the neck abscess under general anaesthesia. IV antibiotics for 10 days.
Airway secured immediately. Abscess drained completely. Decannulation (tracheostomy tube removal) achieved at day 12. Patient discharged in stable condition.
